"Don't make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don't hesitate to make it beautiful."

Featured Project
This was my first “from scratch” lighting project.
This 30” tall table lamp features a pair of 5000 K LED bulbs which provide a cool light. Each is the equivalent of a 60-watt incandescent bulb. With one bulb facing down, and one facing up, the light is more contained, creating a cozy ambience.
Weighing in at nearly 6 lbs., it includes a solid steel base
and heavy wall steel trunk.
The upper section is assembled from 6 different machined aluminum parts separated by steel tubes with the heavy-duty switch on top.

Drawing on the Mid-Century modern aesthetic of clean lines and minimal ornamentation, this design combines aluminum plates for the top and bottom infilled with lightly profiled strips of Basswood. Basswood was chosen for its fine, uniform grain which absorbs wood stains very evenly. With its natural light color, this wood allows for bold colors to pop and more neutral or traditional wood colors to translate accurately. Each shade assembled by hand. This shade is available in two sizes, 4.625" by 18" tall or 7.75" by 18" tall
Available Colors
(Left to right) Gunstock, English Chestnut, Provincial, Natural Oil, Weathered Oak, Classic Grey, Ipswich Pine, Espresso, Golden Oak

Industrial

For fans of "Industrial Chic", this shade features a painted steel cage wrapped in a gentle helix with gleaming stainless-steel cable. The internal lamp structure is fully exposed, and its reflective surfaces add an internal glow when illuminated. While the light is unconstrained by the cable, the bi-directional design of the lamp allows only a small pool of light to be created, creating a much softer ambience than its open space would suggest. This shade is available in 7.75" diameter x 18" tall.
